Family Bed Room, Please

Let me tell you about the past two nights in our house.  Baby D, who just got over strep, now has some sort of allergies/teething problems.  He's been crying in his sleep, 🙁 not sleeping well, tossing and turning, going to bed late, and waking up early.  This kid hates to sleep with anyone, so when I tried, it only got worse.  Captain Fussybuckets, the resident not-so-great sleeper, has been his usual self, up sometime in the middle of the night, coming to our room, OR waking up and coming to find me to go sit with him until he goes back to sleep (insert eye roll here!)  He also had his second and third ever "pee in the bed" accident.  He wanted to stop wearing Pull Ups to bed a month or two ago and was doing great but out of nowhere…."MOMMY!!  I TEE TEED!" at 5 AM.  Awesome.  Then, he came to our bed to be his rabid octopus/kicking and now talking in his sleep kid in the early morning light.

So, I give up.  This is what I want for my birthday:  Forget king size bed, I want to take all the furniture out of our room and just spray Tempurpedic foam all over the floor, about ten inches high.  Then, we'll get a huge comfy, waterproof covering and lay over it, then a sheet and cover it up, and then that will be the "Family Bed Room."  Perfect, no?  We will all fall asleep in the same room and have a quiet, peaceful night's rest, every night.  If one of the boys has a problem, they'll wake up, remember that Mommy and Daddy are there with them, and then quietly go back to sleep.  (ha!)

Yes, I know exactly what will happen though…the boys will find us in the middle of the night and become our personal snuggly heaters.  We'll have this huge mattress and all be scrunched up in one corner.  It's inevitable.  But if anyone is out there who wants to experiment this wonderful idea on our family, I'm totally game. 🙂

And now, I leave you with this popular Co-Sleeping Graphic from howtobeadad.com:

haha!  gotta love how kids make sleeping so dramatic!  I've just accepted that I won't get a full night's rest for oh, about 16 years!

This is hilarious! I normally don't allow my kids in bed although I'm not against the family bed idea. But my almost one year old has spent a lot of time the last few nights in my bed because he is waking up like 8 times a night for some reason. Love the family bed room idea but you're right they would all squish up in one spot.
