Hoffbrau Steaks restaurant has been around since 1978, when The Fogiels opened the first one in South Texas. They strive to serve great food with Texas hospitality!
My husband and I were able to go on a date night and enjoy our first time at Hoffbrau Steaks while Grandma watched the boys. We were excited and this was also my first time eating in Dallas' West End! What a great atmosphere!
Hoffbrau Steaks has a great patio area and the night was perfect for dining outdoors. However, there was a wait time, so we opted for indoors. The restaurant is very rustic and it was fun to see all of the decorations and the atmosphere was just great. We went at about 6:30 on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded, it was just perfect.
We started off with a tea and a lemonade and perused the menu. My husband is a true steak lover and he knew immediately that he wanted to try Sal's 10 oz. ribeye, that also came with a salad and one "sidewinder." He chose the baked potato. I have a special place in my heart (or stomach, rather) for sirloin, so I ordered Chuck's 10 oz sirloin medium well along with steak fries as my sidewinder, and salad with the Famous Hoffbrau Steaks Vinaigrette:
The salad was very good and we both liked the vinaigrette. The waitress also brought some delicious rolls out with our salad:
It didn't take long before our steaks were cooked and delivered to our table. I wish I would've gotten a better picture of my hubby's ribeye. It was so yummy and it just melted in my mouth! (Yes, he shared a bite or two!) He agreed that it was a perfect ribeye!
I had ordered my sirloin medium well, but unfortunately, it came out well done. It was still tasty, but not as tender as I had hoped for. The fries were absolutely delicious, however! We asked the waitress if she put the order in for medium well and she did, and the manager came out to apologize that it wasn't cooked the way I had requested. He offered to get me another steak, but I had already eaten half of it at that point and I thought it would be silly to order another one. But both the manager and waitress apologized a few times and didn't charge us for the overcooked steak, so that was nice of them.
Overall, our experience was really, really good. Great environment, yummy bread and salad, great sidewinders, and hubby's steak made up for my slightly overcooked steak, which wasn't bad itself.
We will definitely be going back to Hoffbrau. I think next time I'm going to order a ribeye or some yummy ribs!!! Or perhaps I'll give the sirloin another chance! Thanks, Hoffbrau Steaks, for the great experience!
