Jolly Time Popcorn is a Great After School Snack! {review}

popcorn oh yum

If you're looking for a great after school snack that is easy to prepare and actually good for your kids, look no further than Jolly Time popcorn!  Air-popped popcorn like Jolly Time only has 31 calories per cup and Jolly Time 100 calorie packs are the perfect size for an after school snack with calories in moderation!  Popcorn is a whole grain, so a better option than other after school treats like cookies or packaged snacks.

We were able to try three versions of Jolly Time popcorn:  100 Calorie Healthy Pop Butter, 100 Calorie Healthy Pop Kettle Corn, and Blast O Butter Ultimate Theater Style Mini Bags.  First I tried the Kettle Corn as an afternoon snack and it was delicious!  Lightly sweetened to perfection and the perfect amount for one serving.  Next was the Healthy Pop Butter for the boys.  They devoured it and a 100 calorie bag was perfect for my guys to share!

I do have to admit that we tossed the Blast O Butter because after inspecting the nutrition information, I saw it had trans fat in it and we stay away from trans fat.  So I can't tell you if it tasted good.  I'm sure it did, but we don't mess around with trans fats.

BUT I did like the other two versions of Jolly Time, and we will be buying them again!  The cute little packages are quick to pop and deliciously satisfying!  Pick up a couple of boxes when you're at the store for a delicious, 100 calorie snack!

Follow Jolly Time on Twitter and Facebook and find product information, promotions, recipes, and more at the Jolly Time website!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Wordless Wednesday: Computer Hijacked

Back To School Funnies

I taught kindergarten for three years before having Captain Fussybuckets and becoming a stay-at-home mom, then a houseparent at a children's home, then a stay-at-home mom again.  School was always filled with mixed emotions.  The first day of school was exciting, scary, exhausting and inspiring all at the same time.  The end of the year was full of relief, stress, and bittersweet sadness!  All day today I've seen my friends post pictures of their kids going back to school and I'll admit, I'm a bit emotional!  It's so sweet to see all of these kids growing up and being so excited about school.  I'm also a teensy bit jealous of those teachers who are starting a brand new year with a class full of kids!  But, I enjoy being a stay-at-home mom to teach my little boys.  Seeing them learn and grow each day is a joy in itself.  So….on this day of mixed emotions for many, I've found some back to school humor and cartoons to hopefully give you a little chuckle if you're missing your little one today or if you're a teacher and had a long, exhausting day!  I salute all of you – teachers, students, staff, AND parents!

I really liked this foundation.  It goes on smoothly and blends well.  I like the packaging, too, and the fact that it dispenses out nicely instead of just a screw off lid:

New Chapter Organics Perfect Energy MultiVitamin {review}

New Chapter

If you're looking for a multivitamin that has an extra, natural energy boost, try Perfect Energy MultiVitamins from New Chapter Organics!  These vitamins are certified organic and contain herbs that are known to energize, such as Maca, Ginseng, and Rhodiola.  These herbs can boost energy without the "crash" of other stimulants by helping the body produce energy on a celllular level.

My husband graciously tried out these Perfect Energy multivitamins and he said he didn't really notice a difference in his energy level.  There are reviews from people it did work for, however, so if you're looking for a natural way to enhance your energy, give these vitamins a shot!

The Perfect Energy Multivitamins are on sale right now at Best Price Nutrition, 36 tabs for $17.97 or 72 tabs for $31.17.  It is recommended that you take three tabs a day.  Check out all of the New Chapter Organics products available at Best Price Nutrition.

“Take A Bite And I’ll Tell You.”

I'm so glad that my husband is the father of my children.  He plays with our boys like he is a boy himself.  He teaches them good things and is a great Christian role model for them.  But the purpose of this post is not to gush about how awesome my husband is, but yet, the brilliance of one of his famous phrases that he has coined..

"Take a bite and I'll tell you."

Hubby started using this phrase when Captain Fussybuckets began a) asking billions of questions and b) being a picky eater.  We'd sit at the table and all the Captain wanted to do was play with his food and ask question after question after question.  That's when my husband coined the phrase "Take a bite and I'll tell you."  Here's how it works:

Captain Fussybuckets:  "Daddy, why do you like spicy food?"

Daddy:  "Take a bite and I'll tell you."

The Captain, eager to find the answer to his question, takes a bite and while he chews, Daddy answers:  "Because I like it."  A few seconds later….

Captain:  "Daddy, did you like spicy food when you were a kid?"

Daddy: "Take a bite and I'll tell you."

And so this goes on and on.  The Captain eats his food, gets his oh so important questions answered, and we all have a pleasant meal.  Well, sometimes.  Obviously if the Captain isn't hungry or interested in his food, this doesn't work.  But more often than not, it does work.  And I like to think my husband is a brilliant parenting expert because of it.

But wait!  It doesn't only work while eating.  Last night, the Captain had a burning question for Daddy, but it was time for bed.  So Daddy said:  "Go get your toothbrush and I'll tell you."  Worked like a charm.

Eventually the question and answer session has to end, but it works for both parties for a long time.  Hopefully this phase will last a really long time.

P.S.  If this is a common, widely known parenting trick, don't tell me.  I prefer to think my husband's idea was brilliant, and I think he does, too.  smiley
